Animal welfare commitment
Our commitment to animal welfare guides every decision we make. Every piece we offer results from a production process that respects animals, their natural environment, and Andean communities.
From grazing on the Peruvian highlands to final garment making, we ensure every step meets the highest ethical standards.
🦙 Responsible and traditional shearing
The well-being of our alpacas is at the heart of our concerns. The shearing method we use reflects centuries of respect for these iconic Andean animals.
Ancient Inca technique
Alpacas are sheared once a year using the traditional Inca technique that minimizes animal stress. This method, officially recognized by the Peruvian State as a technical standard, ensures compliance with the five fundamental freedoms of animals.
Optimal timing
Shearing takes place in the southern spring, allowing the alpaca to benefit from its fleece during the cold months and be relieved for summer. This natural cycle respects the animal's physiological needs.
Expert handling
Only professionals trained in gentle techniques perform the shearing. Every movement is calculated to preserve the animal's comfort, avoiding injury and unnecessary stress.
🏅 Certifications & standards
Our commitment is recognized by the most demanding certifications in the textile sector.
Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS)
This certification ensures our alpacas are raised in optimal conditions: access to water and food, sufficient space, appropriate veterinary care, and protection against mistreatment.
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)
International standard recognizing best practices in animal welfare and responsible pasture land management.
ISO 14064 & Carbon Footprint
Certifications of our carbon footprint, demonstrating our commitment to measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the production chain.
WRAP Certification
Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production: guarantees ethical working conditions and exemplary environmental practices across all partner facilities.
The five Fundamental freedoms of animals
Established in 1965 and universally recognized, the five freedoms provide the reference framework for assessing animal welfare. They outline society's expectations for the living conditions of animals under human responsibility.
Freedom from hunger and thirst
Ready access to fresh water and a diet that maintains full health and vigor.
Freedom from discomfort
An appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
Freedom from pain, injury or disease
Prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment. No mistreatment.
Freedom to express normal behavior
Sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.
Freedom from fear and distress
Conditions and treatment that avoid mental suffering.
Minimal environmental impact
Beyond animal welfare, we are committed to preserving the fragile and precious Andean environment.
Reduced ecological footprint
Alpacas have a remarkably low environmental footprint. They consume less water than sheep and their efficient digestive system requires less pasture to produce the same amount of fiber.
Soil preservation
Unlike sheep that pull out plant roots, alpacas cut grass without damaging the root system. Their soft foot pads do not compact fragile high-altitude soils.
Preserved biodiversity
Alpacas coexist harmoniously with Andean flora and fauna. Their extensive grazing in protected natural reserves helps maintain mountain ecosystem balance.
Sustainable water management
Our Peruvian partner has implemented water recycling and reuse systems in its production processes, drastically reducing water consumption compared to textile industry standards.
Energy optimization
30% reduction in energy consumption over the past five years thanks to innovative technologies, with a carbon neutrality target by 2030.
Waste reduction
Eco-efficient production processes that minimize material use and optimize resources, with over 85% fabric scrap recycling rate.
